Details

Six master students from the College of Engineering have been granted the Master Research Fund by the International Institute for Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering (IHE) through the globally funded project "SafeagroMENA." This project aims to explore the potential of reusing nutrient-rich treated wastewater to achieve food self-sufficiency in the MENA region while addressing health concerns related to emerging contaminants among small-scale farmers through the implementation of agro-ecological tools. The master's theses of these students focus on the removal of pharmaceuticals from wastewater utilizing advanced removal techniques such as adsorption, photo-fenton, and electrocoagulation methods. These research endeavors are conducted under the joint supervision of Professors Husam Al-Hamaideheh and Salah Aljbour, demonstrating a collaborative effort to address pressing environmental and agricultural challenges in the region.
