Under the patronage of the University President, Professor
Salameh Al-Nuaimat, and in the presence of vice presidents, the Faculty of
Engineering held a scientific day on Monday, August 19, 2024, under the theme:
"Graduation Projects for Engineering Students: Realities and
Challenges."
According to the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Jamal Bani
Salameh, the idea of holding this scientific day stemmed from the faculty’s
belief in the necessity of maintaining connections with the industrial sector
and reflecting its requirements on academic outcomes. The event featured a
series of specialized scientific lectures delivered by a group of distinguished
speakers. The event was held in collaboration with the Jordan Engineers
Association, the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, and the Amman Chamber
of Industry. The speakers highlighted the importance of graduation projects for
engineering students, examining the current situation and the challenges
students face in completing exceptional, innovative, and applied graduation
projects that meet aspirations and can compete in local, regional, and global
competitions.
The day also featured an exhibition and competition for
graduation projects from students across various engineering disciplines,
aiming to foster competitiveness among students and encourage creative
scientific ideas. The exhibition showcased a wide range of innovative projects
with practical applications in pioneering fields.
Prof. Bani Salameh also highlighted several of the faculty’s
achievements, including obtaining numerous funding opportunities for various
projects from both local and international sources, such as the European Union,
the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), and NATO, among others. These projects
have facilitated the establishment of several state-of-the-art laboratories in
the region, the most recent of which is the opening of the Materials and Energy
Science Lab. This lab aims to enhance the research infrastructure at Mutah
University, aligning with the university’s vision to empower research teams and
elevate its standing among distinguished research universities. The Faculty of
Engineering also secured ABET international accreditation for its Electrical
and Chemical Engineering undergraduate programs for eight years, which will
further enhance the academic and research standing of these programs. He
expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of the Jordan Engineers
Association, which contributed to equipping a model classroom (Zone) for the
faculty’s students.
