Dr. Khaled Al-Awasa and Prof. Abdullah Al-Oudenat from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the College of Engineering have received a fund from the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK for their project that was submitted for the call: "Transforming Systems through Partnership". The title of the project: "Fostering Clean Energy Transition in Jordan Utilizing Energy Storage Technologies and Integrating Demand Side Management."

The research team comprises three Jordanian universities (Mutah University, Tafila Technical University, and Applied Science Private University), Northumbria University in the UK, and three local companies: National Electric Power Company, Philadelphia Solar Energy Company, and Sadeem Solar Energy Systems.

Projects seeking support from the Royal Academy of Engineering undergo a rigorous evaluation process by international reviewers approved by the academy. A large number of projects competed for the support, and this project was among the few selected.

This project exemplifies the partnership between Jordanian academic institutions and the Jordanian industrial sector in scientific research aimed at providing solutions based on scientific foundations to the problems facing the Jordanian energy sector, including renewable energy sources, where Jordan has become a regional leader in their adoption as a clean source.
