The Department of Architecture at Mu'tah University hosted Engineer Fouad
Bajani, the Shelter & WASH Project Manager from the Norwegian Refugee
Council in Lebanon, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, to give a lecture to
students of the Humanitarian Architecture course taught by Dr. Lara
Al-Shawawreh. Engineer Fouad began his talk on the importance of humanitarian
architecture, presenting examples of successful shelter projects around the
world. He then moved on to classify shelters and their types, specifying the
appropriate field response pattern. He also explained the details of dealing
with wars and disasters through Lebanon's crisis in displacement from its south
during the recent Israeli aggression on Gaza and southern Lebanon. He shared
his experience and tasks during the emergency humanitarian response after the
Beirut port explosion in 2020. On behalf of the College of Engineering and the
Department of Architecture, we thank Engineer Fouad Bajani for his valuable and
passionate lecture that took us on a realistic journey around humanitarian
fieldwork, and we look forward to further cooperation in the future.
